The amount of time needed for a psychological evaluation really depends on the reasons you are seeking one. In general, it involves an interview to discuss one’s background, strengths and concerns. Then the clinician will administer well-researched and validated measures, focusing on identifying individual strengths and, if present, limitations. Some tests will be administered by the clinician and other measures can be completed independently by you. Most times, the evaluation is completed in 3-5 hours, which can be divided over two days if necessary. At a later time, you and the clinician will meet to review the results and recommendations. Before scheduling the appointment, please be aware that insurance companies do not cover the cost of these evaluations.
